Conversion Tracking

Petboost sends booking events to Google Ads, Meta, and Google Analytics 4 when you paste your own IDs into Settings > Branding, under Advanced options > Conversion tracking. Leave a field blank to turn that platform off.

Paste IDs only. Do not paste a full tag snippet. A Google Tag Manager container ID (starts with GTM-) can be stored, but Petboost does not load it.

Events fire on your Petboost booking form (app.petboost.com), not on a website you host. Do not install a Google or Meta tag on your own site for this.

How it works

Petboost loads the IDs you published when a pet owner opens your booking form. The platforms then attribute later events to the ad click that brought them there.

Events fire as the owner moves through the form. A purchase conversion fires when they submit the booking. After submit, Petboost opens the appointment page and loads the same IDs so the session stays on a real page. That page does not fire a second purchase.

A booking with a $0 total still fires the events.

Google Ads needs both a Google Ads Conversion ID and a Google Ads Conversion Label. If only one of those two is filled, Google Ads stays off. Meta and GA4 each need one ID.

Only users with the Admin or Owner Admin role can change these fields.

What Petboost sends

This table is the events Petboost sends when each ID is set.

If the owner changes an existing booking, Meta may show Reschedule instead of Purchase. Google Ads and GA4 still send conversion and purchase.

Google Ads and GA4 send the appointment ID as transaction_id. Meta sends it as content_ids. All three include the booking total and the currency on the account.

Google Ads conversions fire only on submit. Funnel steps do not count as Google Ads conversions.

Add the IDs in Petboost

  1. Go to Settings > Branding.

  2. Turn on Advanced options at the foot of the tab.

  3. Find Conversion tracking.

  4. Paste the IDs for the platforms you use.

  5. Select Publish Changes.

Each platform below has the click path to copy the value. You can set one platform, two, or all three.

Set up Google Ads

You need a website conversion action that uses a tag, then the conversion ID and conversion label for that action. A URL or thank-you-page conversion (Google's "automatically without code" option) does not give Petboost values it can fire.

  1. Create a website conversion, or open the conversion action you already use for bookings.

  2. If you are creating one, choose to measure the conversion manually using code, not automatically from a URL.

  3. Open Tag setup.

  4. Choose Use Google Tag Manager. Google shows the Conversion ID and Conversion label as two separate values. You do not install Google Tag Manager in Petboost. That option is only how Google reveals the two values.

  5. Copy the Conversion ID. It starts with AW-. If Google shows digits only, add AW- in front.

  6. Copy the Conversion label.

  7. Paste them into Google Ads Conversion ID and Google Ads Conversion Label in Petboost, then select Publish Changes.

A scan of your own website will not find this tag. That is expected. The tag runs on the Petboost booking form.

If you chose Install the tag yourself instead, the event snippet contains AW-.../.... Everything before the slash is the conversion ID. Everything after the slash is the conversion label.

Google Ads documents web conversion setup in Set up your web conversions and the Google tag event snippet in Use the Google tag for Google Ads conversion tracking. The click path for copying the ID and label is in Google Ads conversions (Tag Manager Help).

Optional: turn on enhanced conversions in Google Ads. On submit, Petboost sends the owner's email, and their mobile if it is in E.164 format (starts with +), to the Google tag. Google hashes those values in the browser. See Enhanced conversions.

Set up Meta

You need the numeric Dataset ID for your Meta Pixel. Meta also labels this Pixel ID.

  1. If you do not have a dataset, create a Meta Pixel first.

  2. Open your dataset.

  3. Open Settings.

  4. Copy the Dataset ID. It is digits only, with no prefix.

  5. Paste it into Meta Pixel ID in Petboost, then select Publish Changes.

Paste the ID only. Do not install the Meta Pixel snippet on your own website for this.

Meta documents pixel setup in Set up and install the Meta Pixel.

Set up Google Analytics 4

You need the measurement ID for a web data stream. It starts with G-.

  1. Go to Admin.

  2. Under Property settings, open Data streams.

  3. If you have no web stream, add one first.

  4. Open your web stream.

  5. Copy the Measurement ID.

  6. Paste it into GA4 measurement ID in Petboost, then select Publish Changes.

Google documents this in Find your Google tag ID.

What Petboost does not load

These values can sit in the field after Publish Changes, but Petboost skips them when the booking form loads:

  • A Google Tag Manager container ID (GTM-...).

  • A full HTML or JavaScript tag snippet.

Petboost does not redirect the owner to a thank-you page you host.

Put the AW- ID in Google Ads Conversion ID and the G- ID in GA4 measurement ID. If you swap them, Petboost still stores them and events go to the wrong place.

Check the events

After you select Publish Changes, complete a test booking on your own booking form.

  • In Meta, open Events Manager and watch Test events for PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, and Purchase.

  • In Google Ads, open the conversion action and check tracking status. Status can sit on "no recent conversions" for a day or two. See Set up your web conversions.

  • In Google Analytics 4, open Realtime and look for view_item, add_to_cart, begin_checkout, and purchase. DebugView stays empty unless you also use Google Tag Assistant. See Monitor events in DebugView.

If an ID is the wrong format, Petboost skips that platform and still completes the booking.
