Overview
Some email providers automatically filter messages from new senders into spam or junk folders. Google and Microsoft (Outlook, Hotmail, Live) have both introduced anti-spam policies that can prevent Petboost emails and calendar invitations from appearing in your customers' inboxes.
This means your customers might be missing:
Booking confirmations
Appointment reminders
Invoices and receipts
Calendar invitations for upcoming appointments
This article provides step-by-step instructions you can share with your customers to ensure they receive all communications from @petboost.com.au email addresses.
Google (Gmail and Google Calendar)
Google Calendar has a default setting that hides calendar invitations from senders the recipient hasn't previously interacted with. This means appointment invitations sent by Petboost may not appear on your customers' calendars automatically.
Instead of the invitation appearing on their calendar, they may receive an email asking them to click "I know the sender" before the event is added.
Fix 1: Add Petboost to Google Contacts
The simplest fix is to add Petboost as a contact:
Go to contacts.google.com
Click "Create contact"
Enter the email address:
[email protected]Save the contact
Once saved, Google treats all future emails and calendar invitations from @petboost.com.au as coming from a known sender.
Fix 2: Change Google Calendar Invitation Settings
For customers who want all calendar invitations to appear automatically:
On a computer:
Open Google Calendar
Click the gear icon (top right) and select Settings
In the left menu, under General, click Event settings
Find "Add invitations to my calendar"
Change the dropdown from "Only if the sender is known" to "From everyone"
On iPhone or iPad:
Open the Google Calendar app
Tap the menu icon (top left), then Settings
Tap General, then Adding invitations, then Add invitations to my calendar
Select "From everyone"
On Android:
Open the Google Calendar app
Tap the menu icon (top left), then Settings
Tap General
Under Add invitations to my calendar, select "From everyone"
Fix 3: Ensure Gmail Doesn't Filter Petboost to Spam
If Petboost emails are landing in spam or junk:
Open Gmail
Check the Spam folder for any Petboost emails
If you find one, open it and click "Report not spam" (or "Not spam")
This teaches Gmail that Petboost emails are wanted
To prevent future filtering, customers can also create a filter:
In Gmail, click the search options icon (right side of the search bar)
In the From field, enter
@petboost.com.auClick "Create filter"
Tick "Never send it to Spam"
Click "Create filter"

Microsoft's Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Live email services may move messages from unfamiliar senders to the Junk Email folder. This can cause Petboost booking confirmations, reminders, and invoices to go unseen.

On iPhone or iPad:
Open the Mail app
Go to the Junk folder
Find a Petboost email and open it
Tap the sender's name or email address at the top
Tap "Move to Inbox"

Why This Happens
Email providers are increasingly aggressive about filtering unfamiliar senders to protect users from spam and phishing. Google changed its default Google Calendar behaviour so that invitations from unknown senders are hidden until the recipient confirms they know the sender. Microsoft's Outlook and Hotmail services similarly route emails from new senders to the Junk folder.
These are sensible security measures, but they can inadvertently block legitimate business communications like appointment reminders and booking confirmations.
By asking your customers to add petboost.com.au to their safe senders or contacts, you ensure that all Petboost communications reach them reliably.
