Pet Activity Timeline

Overview

The Pet Activity Timeline is a unified, chronological feed of everything that has happened for a pet. It merges diary notes, appointment notes, grooming completions, and photos into a single scrollable view, so you never need to jump between tabs to piece together a pet's history.

How to Access

  1. Open a pet's profile from Customers & Pets

  2. Select the Timeline & Notes tab

The tab badge shows the total number of entries across all sources.

What the Timeline Shows

The timeline merges five types of entries, sorted newest-first:

Entry Type

What It Contains

Pet Diary

Free-text notes added directly to the pet's profile (with optional attachments)

Owner Diary

Notes added at the owner level that relate to the household. Staff SMS requests (terms, card on file) are also written here automatically.

Appointment Notes

Business notes, private notes, customer notes, and grooming layout notes from completed appointments

Grooming Completed

A summary card for each grooming appointment showing services performed, team member, and any attached photos

Photo Groups

Appointment photos grouped by date

Notes from cancelled or refunded appointments are excluded.

Adding a New Note

  1. Open the Timeline & Notes tab

  2. Click the "New Note" button in the top-right corner

  3. Type your note in the composer that appears

  4. Optionally attach images

  5. Submit

The note is saved as a pet diary entry and appears immediately at the top of the timeline. All team members with access to the pet's profile can see it.

Tips

  • Use the timeline as a single source of truth before an appointment to review the pet's recent history at a glance.

  • Diary notes are ideal for recording observations between appointments (e.g. "Owner mentioned Bella has been scratching her ears").

  • Appointment-specific notes (grooming instructions, private staff observations) are added during the appointment workflow and appear here automatically.

  • When you send a terms request SMS from Mission Control or an appointment, Petboost adds an owner diary note: Terms & conditions request SMS sent.
