Emergency Contacts

Overview

Every pet owner profile can store emergency contact details, including a vet or clinic and a backup phone number. These details appear prominently on the pet owner summary card and the pet summary card so staff can reach the right person quickly when it matters.

What Gets Stored

Emergency contact information is part of the pet owner profile and includes two sections:

Vet or Clinic

  • Vet/Clinic Name: searchable field that can look up businesses by name. Selecting a business from the search results can auto-fill the name and phone number.

  • Vet Contact Phone: phone number for the vet or clinic.

Second pet parent phone

  • Second pet parent phone: an additional phone number for the pet owner (e.g., a partner, family member, or workplace). They can log in, book and receive updates with this number. Same pet profile - no duplicate account. The second person signs in with their own phone and a one-time code.

  • How to label this number: a free-text label to describe who the number belongs to (e.g., "Work", "Mobile", "Partner").

All fields are optional.

Adding or Editing Emergency Contacts

  1. Open the pet owner's profile from Customers & Pets

  2. Open Manage Owner

  3. Click Edit Owner Details

  4. Fill in Second pet parent phone and How to label this number if needed

  5. Scroll to Emergency Contact Details and fill in Vet/Clinic Name and Vet Contact Phone if needed

  6. Click Save Owner Details

When searching for a vet or clinic, the autocomplete searches for businesses by name. Selecting a result auto-fills both the name and phone number, which you can then adjust if needed.

Add a second pet parent phone

The second person signs in with their own phone and a one-time code. They share the same pet profile. Petboost does not create a second account.

  1. Open the pet owner's profile from Customers & Pets

  2. Open Manage Owner

  3. Click Edit Owner Details

  4. Enter the number in Second pet parent phone

  5. Optional: fill in How to label this number

  6. Click Save Owner Details

Where Emergency Contacts Appear

On an appointment

Open the appointment and expand Emergency Contacts. The same section is in the contact panel on Messages. It shows:

  • Vet: vet or clinic name with a Call Vet action button

  • Backup Contact: Second pet parent phone with a Call Contact action button

The section does not appear when neither is set.

On the customer profile

The Emergency Contact section on the summary card shows the vet or clinic name and number. Select the number to copy it. If no vet is set, it shows Not set with an Add button that opens Edit Owner Details. The Second pet parent phone shows on Pet & Owner Details under Contact Details.

Mobile View

On mobile devices, the owner information tile shows a condensed emergency contact snippet focused on vet details.

Tips

  • Use the business search when adding a vet to get accurate contact details automatically

  • Fill in How to label this number so staff know who they are calling (e.g., "Partner - James")

  • Review emergency contacts during onboarding to ensure they are captured early
