Basic Pricing
Fixed Base Price
The simplest pricing model: one price for every booking.
How to set:
Navigate to Services → Select your service
Go to Pricing & Payments tab
Enter the Base Price
Customers see this exact price at booking
Best for:
Services with consistent effort and time
Group classes or courses
Walk-in services
Services where variables don't significantly affect cost
Examples:
Service | Base Price |
Group Dog Walk | $40.00 |
Half Day Daycare | $90.00 |
Basic Nail Trim | $15.00 |
"From" Pricing (Variable Pricing)
Show a starting price with flexibility for adjustments.
When enabled, customers see "from $X" instead of a fixed price, setting expectations that the final cost may vary.
How to enable:
Navigate to your service → Pricing & Payments tab
Enter your Base Price (the starting point)
Toggle "Display as 'from' price" ON
Customers now see "from $X" at booking
Best for:
Grooming (coat condition varies significantly)
Services where final cost depends on factors discovered during service
Size-dependent pricing without separate services
Complex services with optional add-ons
Examples:
Service | Display | Actual Range |
Full Groom (Large) | from $180.00 | $180-$250 |
Boarding Stay | from $120.00/night | Varies by duration |
Training Session | from $85.00 | $85-$150 |
Adjusting the final price:
During appointment creation: Adjust before saving
After appointment: Edit and update price
At completion: Review actual work, adjust accordingly
Multi-Pet Discount Pricing
Automatically offer discounts when customers book multiple pets.
How It Works
Petboost uses rate-per-pet tiers for multi-pet pricing. When a customer books multiple pets for the same service, the system counts the pets, finds the matching tier, and applies that tier's per-pet rate to ALL pets. The discount percentage is derived automatically for display.
Important: The rate you enter is the price per individual pet, not the total for all pets. The system calculates: total = rate per pet x number of pets. For example, if you want 2 dogs to cost $150 total, set the per-pet rate to $75 (not $150).
Setting Up Multi-Pet Rates
Navigate to your service → Pricing & Payments tab
Find the Multi-Pet Discount Pricing section
Click + Add Multi-Pet Rates
Enter the rate per pet for each tier:
Pet Count | Rate Per Pet (example) | Total (example) | Effective Discount |
1 pet | $100.00 | $100.00 | 0% (full price) |
2 pets | $85.00 each | $170.00 | 15% off |
3+ pets | $75.00 each | $225.00 (for 3) | 25% off |
What Customers See
Booking 2 pets:
Service: Full GroomPet 1 (Max): $85.00 (multi-pet rate)Pet 2 (Bella): $85.00 (multi-pet rate)─────────────────────────Total: $170.00You saved: $30.00

Best Practices
Where multi-pet discounts work well:
Dog grooming (standard haircuts/baths)
Dog walking (multiple dogs on one walk)
Training sessions
Daycare
Where discounts may not apply:
Boarding (separate kennels, full resources per pet)
Specialised services requiring full attention
Medical/veterinary services
Stay Pricing (Boarding & Overnight Stays)
Stay pricing is set on the service Pricing & Payments tab as Pricing Mode.
Choose how each Stay service bills
Pricing Mode | How it bills |
Duration-based | Total hours from check-in, divided into 24-hour periods. Optional duration tiers and sub-24-hour spillover rates. This is the default if you do not pick a mode. |
Number of nights | Midnights crossed × Rate per night. A same-day visit uses Daycare rate (same-day stays) when one is set, otherwise Rate per night. No duration tiers or spillover. |
When Duration-based fits: irregular check-in and check-out times, billing for actual care time (a 09:00 check-in and a 15:00 check-in pay differently), short stays priced by sub-24-hour tiers, and stay-longer discounts.
When Number of nights fits: fixed check-in and check-out windows where every one-night stay should cost the same regardless of the clock.
Understanding the two tier types (24-hour periods)
The rest of this section applies to the Duration-based pricing mode. Stay services on it use two separate tier systems that work together:
1. Per-Day Period Rates (Green Section)
What it is: Rates charged for each complete 24-hour period.
How "stay longer, save more" works:
When a stay exceeds a tier's minimum duration, that tier's rate is unlocked and applies to ALL full 24-hour periods.
Example configuration:
Duration Range | Per-Day Rate |
1-2 days | $117/day |
2-14 days | $73/day |
14-21 days | $63/day |
21+ days | $56/day |
Example calculation for a 6-day stay:
Total duration: 6 days → This unlocks the "2-14 days" tier ($73/day)
Calculation: 6 × $73 = $438 total
The customer pays $73 for EACH day, not $117 for the first 2 days
This is the "stay longer, save more" benefit - longer stays unlock better rates that apply to the entire stay.
2. Short-Stay & Spillover Rates (Blue Section)
What it is: Rates for:
Short stays under 24 hours (e.g., extended daycare)
Spillover hours remaining after full 24-hour periods
Example configuration:
Duration Range | Flat Rate |
0-4 hours | $40 |
4-8 hours | $55 |
8-12 hours | $65 |
12-24 hours | $73 |
Why spillover rates matter:
When a stay is, for example, 6 days and 8 hours, the 8 remaining hours need to be billed somehow. Without spillover rates, those 8 hours would be charged at the full daily rate. With spillover rates, they're charged at the appropriate sub-24h tier.
Complete Pricing Example
Scenario: Customer books a stay from Monday 10am to Saturday 6pm.
Duration calculation:
Monday 10am → Saturday 6pm = 5 days and 8 hours
In hours: (5 × 24) + 8 = 128 hours
Tier configuration:
Per-Day Rates | |
1-2 days | $117/day |
2-7 days | $73/day |
7-14 days | $63/day |
Short-Stay/Spillover Rates | |
0-4h | $40 |
4-8h | $55 |
8-12h | $65 |
Price calculation:
Full 24-hour periods: 5 days → Unlocks "2-7 days" tier at $73/day
5 × $73 = $365
Remaining spillover hours: 8 hours → Falls into "4-8h" tier
1 × $55 = $55
Total: $365 + $55 = $420
What the customer sees:
Boarding Stay (5d 8h)─────────────────────────5 × 2-7 days period @ $73/day $365.001 × 4h-8h spillover period $55.00─────────────────────────Total $420.00
Visual Tier Timeline
On desktop and tablet, stay pricing uses a visual tier timeline where each tier is shown as a proportional block along a time axis. This replaces the traditional dropdown approach with a more intuitive builder.
How to use the timeline:
Click a block to edit that tier's rate and duration
Drag the grip handles between blocks to adjust tier boundaries
Click "Add Tier" at the end to extend your pricing structure
Undo/Redo buttons let you reverse changes to the tier layout
On mobile devices, the timeline falls back to a grid layout.
Setting Up Stay Pricing Step-by-Step
Step 1: Set Your Base Price
This is your standard daily rate (often used as the fallback if no tiers match).
Go to your stay service → Pricing & Payments tab
Enter Base Price (e.g., $117)
Step 2: Configure Per-Day Period Rates
These encourage longer bookings with discounts.
Scroll to Per-Day Period Rates (green section)
Click + Add Tier
For each tier, set:
Minimum Duration (in days)
Maximum Duration (in days)
Per 24h Period Rate
Recommended tiers:
Tier | Min | Max | Rate | Discount |
Short Stay | 1 day | 2 days | $117 | Base rate |
Standard | 2 days | 14 days | $73 | ~37% off |
Extended | 14 days | 21 days | $63 | ~46% off |
Long-Term | 21 days | 182 days | $56 | ~52% off |
Step 3: Configure Short-Stay & Spillover Rates
These handle partial days.
Scroll to Short-Stay & Spillover Rates (blue section)
Click + Add Tier
For each tier, set:
Minimum Duration (in hours/minutes)
Maximum Duration (in hours/minutes)
Flat Rate for this tier
Recommended tiers:
Tier | Min | Max | Rate |
Quick Visit | 0h | 4h | $40 |
Half Day | 4h | 8h | $55 |
Extended Day | 8h | 12h | $65 |
Nearly Full Day | 12h | 23h 59m | $73 |
Important: Sub-24h tiers must have maximum duration under 24 hours. The system prevents tiers from crossing the 24-hour boundary.
Common Stay Pricing Questions
Q: Can pricing be calculated per night instead of 24-hour periods?
A: Yes. Set Pricing Mode to Number of nights. Each midnight crossed is charged at Rate per night, and a same-day visit uses Daycare rate (same-day stays) when one is set. Choose Duration-based when check-in and check-out times should change the price: a customer who checks in at 09:00 and out at 18:00 two days later has more care time than someone checking in at 18:00 and out at 09:00.
Q: How do I set up a flat rate per night like traditional boarding?
A: Set Pricing Mode to Number of nights and enter Rate per night. To keep Duration-based billing but charge one flat daily rate:
Set your Base Price to your daily rate
Don't add any per-day tiers (or add a single tier covering all durations)
Configure spillover rates if you want to handle partial days
With no tier discounts configured, every 24-hour period is charged at the base rate.
Q: What happens if a stay falls between tier boundaries?
A: Petboost finds the tier where the TOTAL stay duration falls within the min-max range. That tier's rate then applies to ALL full 24-hour periods.
Example: 5-day stay with tiers of "1-2 days" and "3-14 days"
Total duration (5 days) falls within "3-14 days" tier
The "3-14 days" rate applies to all 5 periods
Q: Why are some remaining hours charged at a different rate than my spillover tiers?
A: This happens when the spillover hours don't match any configured sub-24h tier. If you have a gap (e.g., you configured 0-8h and 12-24h but not 8-12h), hours in that gap use the full-day rate as fallback. Fill all gaps in your spillover tiers.
Q: Can I have different check-in and check-out times affect pricing?
A: Yes. Petboost calculates the exact duration in hours between check-in and check-out times, then applies your tier pricing. Early check-in or late check-out naturally results in more hours billed.
Q: What if I want to charge my full-day rate for spillover instead of a lower sub-24h rate?
A: This is a business choice. Some businesses prefer to charge the unlocked per-day rate for spillover hours rather than a lower sub-24h tier rate. Contact Petboost support if you need this alternative billing behaviour configured.
Troubleshooting Stay Pricing
"My tier pricing isn't working as expected"
Check these common issues:
Tier boundaries must be contiguous - No gaps between min/max durations
Sub-24h tiers must be under 24 hours - Max duration < 24:00
Per-day tiers must be 24+ hours - Min duration ≥ 1 day
Tiers shouldn't overlap - Each duration should match exactly one tier
"Customer was charged more than expected"
Calculate exact hours between check-in and check-out
Divide by 24 to get full periods
Check remaining hours against spillover tiers
Verify which tier was unlocked based on total duration
"Migration warning appears for existing tiers"
If you see a warning about misconfigured tiers crossing the 24-hour boundary, click Fix Automatically to split them into proper sub-24h and per-day tiers.
Stay Pricing Summary Table
Concept | Description | Example |
Base Price | Fallback daily rate | $117/day |
Per-Day Tier | Rate for 24h periods based on total stay length | "3-14 days @ $73/day" |
Spillover Tier | Rate for remaining hours after full periods | "4-8h @ $55" |
Tier Unlocking | Longer stays unlock better rates for ALL periods | 5-day stay unlocks "3-14 day" rate for all 5 days |
24h Period | Unit of billing for full days | 128 hours = 5 full periods + 8h spillover |
Holiday, weekday and special period rates on stays
Public holiday, weekday and date-range rates apply to stays per night, whichever charge method the service bills by. Each night of a stay takes the rate for the date it starts, the checkout date is never charged, and a same-day stay takes its own date's rate as one unit. A percentage rate on a multi-night stay is worked out on the average nightly rate for the stay. The amount appears as its own named line in the customer total, separate from the stay price. To set these rates up, see Holiday and weekday pricing.
Duration & Timing
Service Duration (Non-Stay Services)
Total time blocked on schedule for this service.
Set realistic durations that include:
Actual hands-on service time
Typical setup/cleanup within service
Expected variations
For Stay services: Duration is determined by check-in and check-out times, not a fixed value.
Duration Display Label
Customise how duration appears to customers.
Override the default display with customer-friendly text:
Default | Custom Alternative |
"2h" | "Approximately 2 hours" |
"1h 30m" | "2-3 hours depending on coat condition" |
"Full Day" | "Half day (4-5 hours)" |
Fixed Start Time
Force a service to start at one set time. Each service has one fixed start time. For several start times a day, create a separate service for each.
Best for:
Group classes (for example, always starting at 9:00 AM)
Scheduled tours or events
Fixed schedule activities
